  7.     I have been using a scanner to scan images. I could not resize or
  8.     otherwise manipulate the image. PSP solved this problem for me.
  9.  
  10.     PaintShop Pro for Windows (PSP), is a full featured image utility.
  11.     Anything you wish to do with just about any type of image, PSP can
  12.     do it.
  13.  
  14.     In writing the magazine, I have been wanting to capture the actual
  15.     screens of various programs. PSP can do it. Once you capture the
  16.     screen, you can use PSP to further manipulate this image. Save it in
  17.     a myriad of formats including: BMP/DIB/RLE, GIF, IMG, MAC, MSP, PCX,
  18.     PIC, RAS, TGA, TIF, WPG. You can save BMP, and DIB in Windows or
  19.     OS/2 format. Or save it to several formats, or convert it from one
  20.     to another.

  22.     Many times I capture the whole screen, and then decide I want a
  23.     portion of the screen. No problem since PSP will allow you to trim
  24.     the image, or to resize it from 320x200, to 1024x768, or you can set
  25.     your own custom size. When you go into capture mode, you can capture
  26.     the whole screen, or using the mouse draw a box around the area you
  27.     wish to capture. In this mode, you see the size of the image as you
  28.     are creating the box.

  30.     In addition, you can enhance the image or turn a color image into
  31.     greyscale. PSP can increase colors from 16 colors (4bit) to 16
  32.     Million colors (24 bit). Color can be decreased from 32K colors (16
  33.     bit) to 2 colors (1 bit). You may adjust RGB, Brightness, Contrast
  34.     and so on. There is the ability to mirror, flip, or rotate an image;
  35.     apply filters to sharpen, smudge, soften images, or create
  36.     user-defined filters.

  38.     Installation is very quick as there are only a few files. On-screen
  39.     help is always available. Another great feature is that PSP is
  40.     Shareware. You can download it and try it before you make up your
  41.     mind.

  43.     I was very satisfied with the product, and have awarded it an
  44.     Editor's Award for 1992. It is powerful, and yet reasonably priced.

  46.     Look for PSP102.ZIP, on many BBSs. This was the current version as
  47.     of this writing.
